The incident happened on Sunday, Oct. 6, when authorities responded to the Navajo Fields sports complex in Yorktown at around 11:30 a.m. following an altercation during a soccer game, according to Yorktown Police

Investigating officers determined that the fight broke out between the two teams. One victim told police that he was allegedly punched in the head by 30-year-old Putnam County resident Sammer Irias of Mahopac, causing a cut, the department said.

Irias was then arrested and charged with third-degree assault before being released on his own recognizance. A temporary order of protection was also issued on behalf of the victim.

Irias will appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
